As part of a 2 room project, the ensuite was completed 2nd.
Much like the bathroom the client wanted to utilise the space as much as possible to ensure. With this, the shower area needed to be as big as possible. The other clear design request was for the room to be simple and easy to clean.
This was a simple target to achieve. We installed a 1600 x 800mm shower tray with 2 pieces of 8mm glass. The walls were finished in Nuance Platinum Travertine (which also matched the worktop). This wall finishing is so easy to keep clean as there are no grout lines and can be easily whipped down after use.
The layout of the room had not changed and therefore the installation was relatively simple to install the new products in the old locations.
We sourced a towel rail that fits nicely under the window, which the client requested, and then we installed the client’s Smart thermostatic radiator valves.
We used the same Malmo Brandt 5g Click Flooring in the ensuite as we did in the bathroom. This brand of flooring is one of our favourites as it is easy to install and looks stylish and designed.
The floor is a floating floor and a small 5mm gap is left around the room to allow for the expansion and contraction of the material. The 5mm gap here is covered over by the tiles that come to the floor.
At the client’s request, we made this ensuite slightly more accessible to enable easier use. This was achieved by just a few simple and non-obvious changes.
A comfort height WC was installed this is taller than a standard WC. This means the client’s knees will not bend past 90 degrees when using the WC. The other subtle change to the design when compared to the main bathroom was we installed a 2 tap hole basin with lever pillar taps.
